How to build a Classic Era raid composition
The full Classic Era roster has 40 slots. Choose Alliance to plan blessings and paladin auras, or Horde to plan shaman totems. These faction choices change which categories can be covered. Hardcore uses the same class and talent choices, but the planner does not judge encounter safety.
Each row is a player slot. Changing a class selects its first talent tree. Choose the intended tree for each player before reading coverage. Empty rows preserve party positions in the share link.
What covered, missing and duplicates mean
A category is covered when at least one selected class and tree can supply it. Missing means no selected player supplies it. Duplicates counts categories with more than one provider. Coverage is the number of covered categories divided by the number available to your faction.
A tree choice assumes the player takes that tree's listed raid talents. It does not inspect an exact talent build. Coverage means access, not guaranteed uptime, spell strength or simultaneous use. Extra providers can help with assignments and recovery, but the counter does not claim that their effects stack.
Sunder Armor and Expose Armor share the major armor reduction category. Two providers cover one category. Assign one effect rather than adding their armor reductions together.
A warlock can maintain one curse on a target at a time. Several covered curse categories from one warlock are alternatives, so assign separate warlocks when you need those curses together. Missing categories are a checklist of options, not a demand to fill every category.
Party buffs need party assignments
Each party has 5 slots. Party access lists the parties that contain a provider. A covered party aura does not mean the entire raid receives it. Move a player by clearing their current slot and selecting their class and tree in another party.
For Horde, Windfury Totem and Grace of Air Totem both appear as available from a shaman. They occupy the same air totem slot, so choose which one that party needs. For Alliance, a paladin can know several blessings but each player receives one blessing from that paladin at a time. Auras also require a choice.
Spell examples at level 60
These examples show the ranks used for Classic Era. Open a spell name in the coverage panel for its duration, cost and full description.
Blessing of Kings
Paladin, Protection. Can be applied across the raid.
Places a Blessing on the friendly target, increasing total stats by 10% for 5 minutes. Players may only have one Blessing on them per Paladin at any one time.
Windfury Totem
Shaman, any tree. Party effect.
Summons a Windfury Totem with 5 health at the feet of the caster. The totem enchants all party members main-hand weapons with wind, if they are within 20 yards. Each hit has a 20% chance of granting the attacker 1 extra attack with value not confirmed extra melee attack power. Lasts 2 minutes.
Curse of Shadow
Warlock, any tree. Target effect.
Curses the target for 5 minutes, reducing Shadow and Arcane resistances by 75 and increasing Shadow and Arcane damage taken by 10%. Only one Curse per Warlock can be active on any one target.
Improved Scorch
Mage, Fire. Target effect.
Your Scorch spells have a 100% chance to cause your target to be vulnerable to Fire damage. This vulnerability increases the Fire damage dealt to your target by 3% and lasts 30 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times.
Which class should fill the next slot?
A Protection paladin opens Blessing of Kings, while a Discipline priest opens Divine Spirit and Power Infusion. A Fire mage opens Improved Scorch and a Frost mage opens Winter's Chill. Match those options to the damage your roster actually deals; filling every category is not a requirement for a successful raid.
The list focuses on raid buffs, debuffs, auras and utility. It does not model damage output, tank or healer requirements, resistance gear, encounter mechanics, racial abilities or every cooldown. Copy the share link after editing to keep the raid size, faction, slot order and talent trees.
