Which class should you play in WoW Forever?
Forever has 9 race appearances and 56 faction, race and class combinations here. Skyborne are available on both factions, with different class choices. Choose your faction before deciding on a Skyborne character. The class suggestions also show what changed from Classic, so you can inspect the talents before choosing a familiar main.
How the class suggestions work
Start with a role and faction to remove unavailable Forever choices. The remaining classes match your damage style, solo comfort, group utility and preferred race, with equal weight for each answer. A Dwarf preference can favor Shaman here, unlike Classic. Classes with equal matches are all shown; unanswered preferences add nothing. The displayed matches explain the order, without claiming a damage or healing advantage.
A healer choice worked through
Choose healer and Alliance, then prefer Dwarf. There are 4 healing classes on this faction. The best matches are Paladin, Priest and Shaman.
Paladin matches healer, Alliance, Dwarf. Its healing tree is Holy.
Dwarf Shaman is available in Forever. This makes your preferred appearance a real distinction from Classic. Gnome Priest and Undead Paladin are also choices here. Review the class changes beside the results rather than assuming that a familiar Classic build plays the same way.
Roles and talent trees in WoW Forever
Forever still offers distinct builds within each class. Druid can match tank, healer or damage, while Shaman can match healing and either damage style. The role table gives the supporting trees; follow the Forever talent links to inspect the changed talents. A melee preference describes your damage play, even if you select healer as your group role.
| Class | Role and supporting tree |
|---|---|
| Warrior | tank: Protection damage: Arms and Fury |
| Paladin | tank: Protection healer: Holy damage: Retribution |
| Hunter | damage: Beast Mastery, Marksmanship and Survival |
| Rogue | damage: Assassination, Combat and Subtlety |
| Priest | healer: Discipline and Holy damage: Shadow Magic |
| Shaman | healer: Restoration damage: Elemental Combat and Enhancement |
| Mage | damage: Arcane, Fire and Frost |
| Warlock | damage: Affliction, Demonology and Destruction |
| Druid | tank: Feral Combat healer: Restoration damage: Balance and Feral Combat |
Compare playable races and racials
These Forever racial examples use level 60. Skyborne abilities differ by faction, and Gnome Priest has Contingency Plan and Confounding Flash. Choose a race portrait to favor its playable classes, then hover, focus or tap the racial buttons in a suggestion to read their descriptions. Race options with equal appearance matches use name order; racial strength does not decide the class order.
| Race and faction | Racial example |
|---|---|
| Human Alliance | Perception: Dramatically increases stealth detection for 20 seconds. |
| Dwarf Alliance | Find Treasure: Allows the dwarf to sense nearby treasure, making it appear on the minimap. Lasts until cancelled. |
| Night Elf Alliance | Shadowmeld: Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Using this ability in combat discourages enemies from attacking you, but increases the cooldown to 2 min. |
| Gnome Alliance | Escape Artist: Instantly escape the effects of any movement impairing effect and gain immunity to those effects for 3 seconds. |
| High Order Skyborne Alliance | Walk on Air: Glide downward through the air for 10 seconds while controlling your direction of travel. |
| Orc Horde | Racial details are not available yet. |
| Undead Horde | Will of the Forsaken: Instantly removes all Charm, Fear and Sleep effects. |
| Tauren Horde | Cultivation: Cultivate a nearby herb, growing a duplicate you can harvest without requiring Herbalism skill. Each herb may only be cultivated once. |
| Troll Horde | Racial details are not available yet. |
| Windshaper Skyborne Horde | Walk on Air: Glide downward through the air for 10 seconds while controlling your direction of travel. |
What changed for each Forever class?
Every Forever class has talent and spell changes from Classic Era. Open a class comparison before you settle on a main, because a familiar Classic build may play differently: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock and Druid.
Common mistakes when choosing a main
Do not assume both Skyborne factions have the same class list. High Order Skyborne can choose Mage, while Windshaper Skyborne can choose Shaman. Also avoid treating the change count as a balance ranking: the individual talent descriptions matter more than how many lines changed.
Use the class comparison before committing to a Forever build, then open its talent calculator. Race portraits help with appearance; a model viewer can help you preview sets after you have narrowed your play preferences.
