How to level leatherworking in Forever
WoW Forever has 447 crafting recipes here for leatherworking, with a maximum skill of 300. 441 recipes have a matching recipe item. 77 require skill 300 or higher, so they do not help you reach that cap.
121 additional leatherworking recipes are left out because their learning requirement or availability is not established for Forever. A missing crafting route does not mean you cannot train further in the game.
The starting route uses Light Armor Kit, consuming 1 Light Leather per craft. The shopping list counts each ingredient consumed. If you already have Light Leather in your bags, subtract that stock before buying more.
Recipe colors and material costs
Handstitched Leather Boots requires skill 1, turns yellow at 40, green at 55 and gray at 70. Orange grants skill every craft, yellow and green grant skill less reliably, and gray grants none. The green boundary is the midpoint between yellow and gray, rounded down to a whole skill point.

|---|---|---|
| Handstitched Leather Boots | 1, 40, 55, 70 | 2 Light Leather, 1 Coarse Thread |

A worked leatherworking route
Starting at skill 1, the default target is 75. The available route reaches 75 using ~104 (82 to 125) crafts estimated. That covers 74 skill points.
| Skill | Craft | Craft count |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 30 | Light Armor Kit | 29 |
| 30 to 55 | Light Armor Kit | ~52 (31 to 72) est. |
| 55 to 58 | Handstitched Leather Boots | ~7 (3 to 13) est. |
| 58 to 75 | Fine Leather Gloves | 17 |
For this route, Light Leather requires ~162 (137 to 185) estimated; Coarse Thread requires ~41 (37 to 47) estimated; Cured Light Hide requires 17. Repeated ingredients are combined across steps. Crafted intermediate materials remain separate shopping entries, so subtract any that you make along the way.
Which leatherworking recipe uses fewer materials?
At skill 1, Light Armor Kit consumes 1 reagent units per craft, compared with 3 for Handstitched Leather Boots. Each item counts as one unit, regardless of its gold price. The route minimizes expected units over the entire skill range, including extra attempts after recipes turn yellow.
Rugged Leather Pants can be learned with Pattern: Rugged Leather Pants. Check recipe access, quests and specializations before shopping. Exclude recipes you cannot learn or whose materials cost too much on your realm. Lock a known recipe to give it priority whenever it can grant skill; overlapping locks use the lower expected reagent total.
How estimated leatherworking craft counts work
Handstitched Leather Boots has a yellow boundary of 40 and a gray boundary of 70. Its estimated skill gain chance at skill 55 is (70 minus 55) divided by (70 minus 40). Expected crafts equal one divided by that chance. For skill 55 to 56, this gives ~2 (1 to 6) crafts est.
The Handstitched Leather Boots range covers at least 80% of outcomes under this estimated chance model, using the variance of independent attempts. It describes crafting luck under that model, rather than a guarantee about your game. For the longer route to 75, the planner recalculates chance after every skill gain. Update your current skill as you craft, and train the next profession rank before your current rank limit.
