How many kills should you plan?
The kill columns show the estimated number of kills needed for at least one drop at your chosen chance. A 90% chance still leaves a 10% chance of getting nothing. Each kill is a new roll, so a long dry streak does not make the next kill more likely to drop the item.
For a per-kill probability p and a target probability t, the calculation is ceil(log(1 - t) / log(1 - p)). A guaranteed drop takes one kill. Quest items and conditional drops have no kill calculation because eligibility changes the result.
Choosing a creature
Best farming puts normal creatures with multiple spawns first, then ranks them by drop chance multiplied by spawn count. This compares farming opportunities, not measured drops per hour. Travel time, respawns and your kill speed still matter. The first zone has the most listed spawns for that creature. Sort the full creature list by chance, spawns or level. World drops combine shared loot across many creatures, with their level range and chance range. They do not identify a single best farming spot.
Kill ranges use both ends of the listed rate's rounding interval. Equal endpoints appear once, and common drop chances round to whole percentages. These ranges describe rounding, not a measured confidence interval. Actual rates can differ. Very rare drops may show a minimum kill count when the rounded range includes zero.
Netherweave Cloth farming in TBC
For Netherweave Cloth in TBC Anniversary, Phantom Guest in Karazhan leads the farming list. Karazhan requires a raid group and instance access. For outdoor farming, compare Eclipsion Soldier and Ashtongue Worker in Shadowmoon Valley.
| Creature and zone | Level | Spawns | Chance | 90% kills |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phantom Guest, Karazhan | 70 | 107 | ~39% est. | ~5 est. |
| Eclipsion Soldier, Shadowmoon Valley | 68 to 69 | 110 | ~34% est. | ~6 est. |
| Ashtongue Worker, Shadowmoon Valley | 69 | 94 | ~35% est. | ~6 est. |
Locations and vendor prices
Coordinates are percentages of the zone map. Open a location to see more recorded spawn points. A creature may move away from those points. Prices are base prices before reputation discounts. Limited stock can sell out, and some purchases require a quest or another condition.
Classic and TBC
When both versions list the item, the comparison shows their creature chances next to each other. Open the other version for its full creature and vendor list. Classic Era and Hardcore use the Classic page.
