How TBC item budgets differ
TBC equipment adds ratings and sockets alongside the primary stats on older pieces. The planner adds rating amounts without converting them to a percentage or inventing a priority for your class. A rating total and a socket count describe different things, so an empty socket is not treated as a gem bonus.
Required level filters out Outland equipment you cannot wear yet. Item level sorts the remaining choices by equipment budget. A higher budget can be divided differently among stamina, offensive stats and sockets, so set B shows each gain and loss separately.
The same older item can remain available in TBC while its effects or damage differ from Classic. Open the set in another version to keep matching items and use that version's amounts. Missing pieces are removed instead of replaced with a similar name.

For an Outland comparison, copy this armor set to B and remove the helmet. Removing Onslaught Battle-Helm changes the counted stamina from 246 to 192, a loss of 54. The change shown is B minus A. A stat with a missing amount cannot be compared.
Which gear is better for your build?
For a TBC replacement, inspect the rating changes beside the primary stats and sockets. A socketed item can become stronger after gems even when its base totals are lower. The totals do not include character base stats, talent modifiers, enchants, gems, random rolls or temporary buffs. Equip effects and active set bonuses are shown separately and are not added a second time.
A TBC shaman needs the dual wield talent before an off hand weapon appears. Attach a saved build that learns it, and keep that build in the shared gear link. Open TBC talents.
Common equipment mistakes in TBC
This Onslaught Battlegear example covers armor slots. Adding weapons still needs separate hand checks: a two hand weapon empties the off hand, and a shaman's second weapon requires the attached dual wield talent. Unique trinkets and rings also cannot be doubled.
TBC warriors gain plate at level 40, while hunters gain mail at level 40. Weapon training still matters in game even when the class can learn a proficiency. The picker filters the types your class can learn at your level; it cannot tell which trainers you have visited. Profession requirements, reputation and other personal unlocks still apply to an item you plan to use.
