How Classic Era equipment totals work
Classic Era and Hardcore share these base item values. The planner adds the fixed amounts on each equipped item. Armor, primary stats and resistances remain separate, while chance on hit and use effects retain their own descriptions. A weapon's average damage divided by its swing speed gives its damage per second.
Item level describes the equipment budget. Required level controls when you can wear the piece. Classic jewelry and weapons can trade one bonus for another at the same item level, so compare the individual totals instead of treating item level as a class score.
Hardcore uses the same equipment rules, but appearing in this list does not mean a piece is safe or practical to obtain. A planned set is an equipment comparison, without a farming route or drop calculation.

Try an Era comparison with this set in A and its helmet removed from B. Removing Dreadnaught Helmet changes the counted stamina from 296 to 251, a loss of 45. The change shown is B minus A. A stat with a missing amount cannot be compared.
Which gear is better for your build?
For an Era weapon replacement, compare damage per second and the individual primary stats, then read the chance on hit effects. A faster weapon and a larger hit are different tradeoffs. The totals do not include character base stats, talent modifiers, enchants, gems, random rolls or temporary buffs. Equip effects and active set bonuses are shown separately and are not added a second time.
An Era shaman needs the two hand weapon talent before those axes and maces appear. Save the matching talent build, then attach it under your character so the weapon picker can use it. Open Classic talents.
Common equipment mistakes in Classic
The Era example wears Ring of the Dreadnaught once. Two ring slots do not allow two copies of a unique piece. Replacing a two hand weapon with a shield removes the weapon, so refill the main hand afterward.
Era warriors gain plate at level 40, while hunters gain mail at level 40. Weapon training still matters in game even when the class can learn a proficiency. The picker filters the types your class can learn at your level; it cannot tell which trainers you have visited. Profession requirements, reputation and other personal unlocks still apply to an item you plan to use.
Choose your Era race and faction before selecting restricted equipment. A later expansion's race or class option does not unlock it for an Era character. Local sets stay in this browser. Copy the link before moving to another device.
